Gotion: Supporters show enthusiasm for proposed Gotion battery plant

Resident Tracy Ruell said the divisions occurring around the Gotion project have been created by politicization, conspiracy theories of a Chinese takeover and completely unsubstantiated accusations of collusion and fraud against the board and other citizens.

“Opponents of this project are pushing the agenda that Gotion is purchasing pristine farmland, when in fact, they wanted to purchase the unused for 20 years Big Rapids Township Industrial Park land and land already zoned industrial in Green (Charter) Township,” Ruell said. “Additionally, the Mecosta County Master Plan calls for these areas to be used for industrial purposes.”

She said concerns about the environmental impact are understandable and would be handled through due diligence, not environmental impact studies, which are not required of most projects, and are not required for the Gotion project. However, permits cannot be signed off on until the plans meet the rules and regulations of the state. To read more click here.
